A performance management program relies on ensuring people across the organization are aligned with – and contributing to – the strategic objectives of the organization. The purpose of the discussions are two-fold: an accurate and actionable evaluation of performance, and the development of the employee’s skills in line with job tasks.
In accordance with Columbia's Performance Appraisal Policy, all officers of administration should receive written feedback about their performance at least once a year. Columbia University Facilities and Operations discussion program is designed to create a dialogue, both verbal and written, between a supervisor and their direct report and meet the two goals referenced above.
A successfully implemented discussion program will create alignment within the goals of the organization and the development of each employee.
